There is no place in the Bible where God tells a prophet to ask the people to give a specific amount of money in exchange for a blessing.

Here’s what Scripture actually teaches:

1. Giving Was About Obedience, Not a Transaction

When prophets spoke about giving, it was always about returning to obedience, not “paying for” a blessing.

  • Malachi 3:10 – “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse… and see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing…”

    • Here, God Himself speaks through the prophet Malachi, but He never tells Malachi to set an amount or promise a personal blessing for giving a specific sum. The tithe was already a law of obedience, not a new request for money.

2. True Prophets Never Sold God’s Favor

Throughout the Bible, false prophets are often condemned for using God’s name for profit or gain:

  • Micah 3:11 – “Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money…”

  • 2 Peter 2:3 – “In their greed, these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories.”

  • Acts 8:18–20 – When Simon tried to buy the power of God, Peter rebuked him sharply: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!”

3. Giving Was Always Heart-Led

When people gave, it was to honor God, support the temple, or the poor — not to buy miracles. To make this clear, I'm talking about giving, not tithing.

  • 2 Corinthians 9:7 – “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

  • Luke 6:38 – Jesus says, “Give, and it will be given to you…” — again, not a set amount, but a principle of generosity that brings spiritual return.

No prophet in the Bible ever said, “God told me if you give $100, or any amount, He’ll bless you.” That kind of message is not biblical — it confuses faith and obedience with buying favor. God blesses faith, obedience, and the heart behind the giving — not the dollar amount.
